Slovakia to raise extra capital buffer for banks

Slovakia's central bank has decided to increase the countercyclical capital buffer for banks to 1.50% from 1.25%.

The new rate will take effect from Aug. 1, 2019.

"The main reason for the rate increase is to strengthen the banking sector's resilience at a time of continuing excessive credit growth," Národná banka Slovenska said.
