Canadian auto parts supplier Magna International Inc. partnered with Japanese semiconductor manufacturer Renesas Electronics Corp. to offer a 3-D surround view system for entry- and mid-range vehicles.
According to a May 17 announcement, the companies' advanced driving assistance system will combine Magna's 3-D surround view system and Renesas' system-on-chip.
Magna's 3-D surround view system is a car camera that provides a 360-degree panoramic view to assist drivers when parking or when driving slowly. Renesas' system-on-chip optimizes the camera and surround view systems.
The system will allow drivers to detect objects and alert them when obstacles are in their path, according to the release.
