Report: UK drug retailer Boots considers closing over 200 stores

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. has put over 200 Boots U.K. stores under review for possible closure over the next two years, Sky News reported May 28, citing unnamed sources.

An insider reportedly said some of the sites will be shut when their leases expire while others will be part of a consolidation in towns that have two separate Boots stores. Affected staff members are expected to be redeployed to other shops where possible.

No final decisions about the stores have been made yet, people close to the company reportedly said.
