Regis Resources posts initial underground gold resources for Rosemont

Regis Resources Ltd. on March 12 reported an initial estimate of underground resources at its Rosemont mine, which is a satellite of its Duketon Southern Operations in Western Australia.

The Rosemont deposit hosts inferred underground resources of 1.4 million tonnes grading 5.10 g/t of gold for 230,000 ounces. The estimate comprises the main and south areas of the deposit and uses a cutoff grade of 2.0 g/t of gold.

The company said more than 2.7 kilometers of strike length remain untested and it has plans for further infill and extensional drilling aimed at expanding resources and establishing initial underground reserves.

A scoping study is underway ahead of a full mining study and other analyses, and the Regis Resources board expects to make a decision on underground development by the end of the June quarter.

Open pit operations at Rosemont began in 2013 and are expected to run until at least fiscal 2024.

Regis Resources produced 184,034 ounces of gold in its fiscal first half ended Dec. 31, 2017.
