MSHA administrator assumes mine safety and health enforcement role within agency

The former deputy administrator for coal mine safety and health with the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration was recently selected to fill a new position within the agency.

Timothy Watkins assumed the role of administrator for mine safety and health enforcement on Dec. 17, according to an administrative information bulletin from MSHA's assistant secretary for labor. Watkins is a registered professional engineer who has held other positions within MSHA as well, including ventilation specialist and supervisory mine safety and health specialist.
