J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. said its second-quarter normalized net income came to 89 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 90 cents per share.
EPS increased 11.4% year over year from 80 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $104.4 million, an increase of 10.7% from $94.3 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 6.8% from 6.1% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue totaled $1.54 billion, compared with $1.55 billion in the prior-year period, and total operating expenses decreased from the prior-year period to $1.37 billion from $1.39 billion.
Reported net income grew 10.7% year over year to $103.7 million, or 88 cents per share, from $93.6 million, or 79 cents per share.
