Ameren Missouri seeks FERC approval to acquire 299-MW Outlaw Wind project

Ameren Missouri is seeking approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to acquire a 299-MW wind project from Invenergy LLC.

The utility, legally known as Union Electric Co., plans to acquire the Outlaw Wind project in Atchison County, Mo., from Invenergy Renewables LLC when construction of the wind farm is complete.

Ameren Missouri received approval for construction of the project from the Missouri Public Service Commission on Aug. 15.

Prior to the deal with Ameren Missouri, Invenergy in a separate transaction will acquire Outlaw Wind from Enel SpA subsidiary Enel Kansas LLC. Invenergy's deal with Enel is expected to close in the fourth quarter, according to an Aug. 20 FERC filing.

Outlaw Wind, which will operate in the Southwest Power Pool market, will come online by December 2020. Ameren Missouri is a subsidiary of Ameren Corp.

The transactions are expected to be completed in 2020. The applicants asked FERC to issue an order by Oct. 10. (FERC docket EC 19-122)
