OAO Metalloinvest installed its automated control system for drilling operations at its Mikhailovsky GOK iron ore project in Russia in a bid to increase production efficiency.
The company installed on-board units at 15 drilling rigs, which are capable of analyzing the results of drilling work in real time, according to a Feb. 6 release.
Head of the drilling and blasting facility at Mikhailovsky GOK, Sergey Vykhodtsev, said the automated control system is anticipated to increase the productivity of drill rigs by about 5% and increase the quality of blasting work.
