Exxon unit, Australia's AGL Energy ink gas supply deal

Exxon Mobil Corp. subsidiary Esso Australia Resources Pty Ltd signed a short-term agreement with Australian energy provider AGL Energy Ltd. for natural gas supply starting in 2021.

The Exxon unit will deliver 50 petajoules of gas from Jan. 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2022, according to a Sept. 25 news release from AGL Energy.

Among others, the subsidiary holds stakes in the Gorgon Jansz project and the Gippsland Basin oil and gas development. Exxon is looking to sell its 50% stake in the Gippsland assets.

In 2018, Exxon's Australia portfolio reported total net production of 996 Mcf/d of gas.
