Top banking moves: Isabella Bank Corp. names CFO; Banner Corp. CFO to retire

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly news summary of executive management and board chair-level changes in the bank and thrift industry.

Feb. 28

Midlothian, Va.-based Village Bank and Trust Financial Corp. named Donald Kaloski Jr. executive vice president and CFO, effective May 31. He will replace C. Harril Whitehurst Jr., who is retiring.

Kaloski most recently was senior vice president for accounting at the bank.

Lloyd Baker is retiring as executive vice president and CFO of Banner Corp. and executive vice president of unit Banner Bank, effective April 30. He will be succeeded by Peter Conner, currently executive vice president of Banner Bank, in the CFO position.

Jeff Marshall was appointed chief investment strategist of Roseburg, Ore.-based Umpqua Bank, a unit of Umpqua Holdings Corp.

Chicago-based Urban Partnership Bank CEO William Farrow has retired.

Current Chief Banking Officer Darrell Hubbard was appointed president and CEO.

Springfield, Mo.-based Systematic Savings Bank appointed R. Bradley Weaver senior vice president and chief lending officer, the Springfield Business Journal reported.

Peter Cutbill was named executive vice president and chief credit officer of Bellingham, Wash.-based Peoples Bank, a unit of Peoples Bancorp.

He will replace Terry Daughters, who is retiring later in 2018.

Cutbill previously was senior vice president and chief lending officer at Skagit Bank.

Paul Olson was promoted to president of Arbor Bank, the Omaha (Neb.) World-Herald reported.

Olson most recently was Omaha market president.

The Nebraska City, Neb.-based bank is a unit of Oakland Financial Services Inc.

Zahid Afzal was appointed executive vice president and COO of Youngstown, Ohio-based Home Savings Bank, effective March 19.

Afzal previously was chief technology and operations executive of Raleigh, N.C.-based Capital Bank Corp.

Home Savings Bank is a unit of United Community Financial Corp.

Mount Pleasant, Mich.-based Isabella Bank Corp. appointed Neil McDonnell CFO. He has held the same position at Stamford, Conn.-based Patriot National Bancorp Inc. and Patriot Bank NA.

McDonnell replaced Dennis Angner, who retired in 2017.
