Saigon Beer appoints 2 independent directors

Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corp. appointed Nguyen Tien Vy and Pramoad Phornprapha to the company's board as independent directors, the Nikkei Asian Review reported Sept. 4.

Nguyen Tien Vy is the vice chairman of the Vietnam Beer Alcohol Beverage Association and formerly held a role at Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, according to the report.

The newswire added that Sabeco, as the company is known, also formed an audit committee but has not yet disclosed its members.

The appointments follow Thai brewer Thai Beverage Public Company Ltd.'s acquisition of a majority stake in the Vietnamese beer producer in December 2017.

In April, the Nikkei reported that Sabeco appointed three new members to its main board to represent Thai Beverage. The directors were Koh Poh Tiong, who also sits on the board of Fraser and Neave Ltd., Malcolm Tan Tiang Hing and Sunyaluck Chaikajornwat.
