The board of Irvine, Calif.-based Pacific Enterprise Bancorp authorized the repurchase of up to 50,000 of the company's common shares.

The common shares represent approximately 1.7% of the company's outstanding common shares.

Repurchases can be made from time to time in the open market or through privately negotiated transactions.
