Report: EU to impose interim order on Broadcom amid ongoing antitrust probe

European Union Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager is expected to order Broadcom Inc. to halt alleged anti-competitive practices, even before the conclusion of the European Commission's antitrust investigation into the company, London's Financial Times reported.

The EU will use "interim measures" to stop the U.S. chipmaker from imposing terms on clients that bar them from buying chips from other companies, according to the report.

Broadcom is expected to file an appeal against the ruling and take the matter to the European Court of Justice, sources with knowledge of the matter said.

EC launched the probe against Broadcom in June for potentially violating antitrust rules by using exclusivity restrictions to block rivals.
