Google promises carbon-neutral shipping, recycled materials in products

Google LLC has set a target to neutralize carbon emissions from all shipments going to or from customers by 2020, Anna Meegan, Google's head of sustainability, consumer hardware, said in an Aug. 5 blog post.

Meegan said starting in 2022, all Google-made products will include recycled materials. From 2017 to 2018, the Alphabet Inc. unit's carbon emissions for product shipments decreased by 40%, she said.

Google has also launched the "Power Project," which will bring 1 million Nest-branded thermostats to families in need by 2023.
