Pattern Energy energizes 14-MW solar facility in Japan

Pattern EnergyGroup LP has completed the 14-MW Kanagi solar photovoltaic facilityin Shimane prefecture of Japan, according to an April 26 company release.

Pattern Energy developed andbuilt the project in partnership with GreenPower Investment Corp. GEEnergy Financial Services currently maintains an ownership stake inthe project.

"Following our recent completion of , Kanagi Solar is now oursecond solar project to reach commercial operations this year, both on budgetand on schedule," said Toshio Hori, CEO and founder of Green PowerInvestment. "We intend to build on these accomplishments in solar andexpect similar successes in wind as well in the near future."

Kanagi will supply power to undera 20-year contract. Kyocera Communication Systems managed construction and willoperate and maintain the facility.

Pattern Energy, together with Green Power Investment, has a "broadand deep pipeline of both wind and solar projects," Pattern EnergyPresident and CEO Mike Garland said. "We look forward to developingadditional renewable energy facilities that will help Japan reach its cleanenergy goals."
