USD Group affiliate, Shell unit complete Deer Park rail terminal retrofit

USD Group LLC affiliate Texas Deepwater Deer Park Terminal LLC and Equilon Enterprises LLC, which is doing business as Shell Oil Products US, completed a retrofit and refurbishment project at the Deer Park rail terminal on the Houston Ship Channel, according to an Aug. 6 news release from the USD Group LLC. The project was completed on schedule and on budget.

The terminal can load up to 48 railcars, or about 33,000 barrels of refined products, per day and has a storage capacity of 50,000 barrels. It offers the capability to add lubricity additives and red dye, and has a direct pipeline connection to the Deer Park refinery and the Colex Products terminal, the release said.

The project initially will deliver diesel through railcars to Mexico and the Permian Basin, but it could be expanded by adding storage capacity and rail loading capabilities for additional refined products.

Potential customers are still pursuing long-term agreements for the terminal, the release said, but the partners expect to fully contract the remaining capacity soon.
