Amazon.com Inc.'s Amazon Studios acquired a four-hour documentary about music band Grateful Dead from director Amir Bar-Lev and executive producer Martin Scorsese.
"Long Strange Trip" delves into the creativity, subversion, and interpersonal dynamics driving the Grateful Dead in their 30-year career.
The documentary is set to premiere at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, with band members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, as well as Trixie Garcia to attend. "Long Strange Trip" will debut May 26 as a six-part documentary on Amazon Prime Video in the U.K. and the U.S., with Amazon to add more territories, the company said Jan. 18.
