HSBC Singapore appoints FIG head for Southeast Asia

HSBC Singapore appointed Kanakanjan Ray to the newly created role of head of financial institutions group for Southeast Asia as part of the company's plan to further expand its presence in the region, Singapore's The Straits Times reported May 27.

Most recently, Ray served as country head of financial institutions group.

In 2018, HSBC Singapore unveiled a three-year plan to further build its ASEAN credentials and regional coverage from Singapore. The company has increased its head count in business banking by 30 in 2018. It plans to boost its head count across the entire business by more than 10% over the three-year period as it seeks to increase market share, according to the report.

HSBC Bank Singapore is a unit of HSBC Holdings PLC.
