Sumitomo to sell 10-MW Nev. solar asset

Sumitomo Corp. is selling a 10-MW solar project in Washoe County, Nev., to a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp.

Liberty Utilities (CalPeco Electric) LLC requested approval to acquire the Turquoise Solar Energy Project (Turquoise Liberty ProjectCo) (Liberty 1 Solar) in an Oct. 12 filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The company also requested approval of an eventual tax equity transaction in which a yet-to-be-selected investor will acquire all of the tax equity associated with the project.

The 10-MW Turquoise project is under construction in Washoe County, Nev., and will sell its output under a long-term power purchase agreement with an unspecified party, according to the filing.

Sumitomo also owns the 50-MW Turquoise Solar Energy Project (Turquoise Nevada) (Sierra) in Washoe County. (FERC docket EC19-11)
