Commissioner Norman Bay has resigned from his position at FERC, just hours after the commission announced that Cheryl LaFleur had been appointed as the new acting chairman by the Trump administration.

Bay's resignation will be effective as of Feb. 3, according to a letter released by FERC dated Jan. 26. He served as chairman of the commission from April 2015 until LaFleur was announced as the acting chairman in a release earlier in the day. His term runs through June 30, 2018.
