Poh Kong Holdings fiscal Q2 profit climbs YOY

Poh Kong Holdings Bhd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Jan. 31 was 6.3 million ringgits, an increase from 1.0 million ringgits in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin rose to 2.9% from 0.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined year over year to 216.5 million ringgits from 226.9 million ringgits, and total operating expenses declined 8.5% from the prior-year period to 202.7 million ringgits from 221.5 million ringgits.

Reported net income grew from the prior-year period to 7.7 million ringgits, or 2 sen per share, from 1.3 million ringgits, or 0 sen per share.

As of March 25, US$1 was equivalent to 3.67 ringgits.
