J&J's DePuy Synthes unveils hip replacement system in US

Johnson & Johnson's medical devices unit DePuy Synthes Inc. unveiled its Actis Total Hip System, for use in hip replacement surgeries, in the U.S.

Actis Total Hip System is compatible with traditional approaches in hip replacement surgeries, as well as tissue-sparing approaches like the anterior approach, a minimally invasive procedure where the artificial joint is inserted through the front without cutting any muscles or nerves.

The system was designed to help improve joint stability immediately after surgery.

Warsaw, Ind.-based DePuy Synthes introduced the Actis Total Hip System at the 2018 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting in New Orleans.
