McDonald's Corp. has teamed up with Grubhub Inc. to make McDelivery available on the food delivery marketplace's platform in New York City and the tri-state area, according to a Sept. 5 joint announcement.
Grubhub will start delivering orders from approximately 500 McDonald's restaurants in those areas through the app's marketplace and its New York brand, Seamless.
The two companies will integrate direct point-of-sale systems for faster transactions, according to the release.
The fast-food giant joins other quick-service restaurant chains like Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. and Yum! Brands Inc.-owned Taco Bell on Grubhub's platform.
Prior to the partnership with Grubhub, McDonald's already offered deliveries via Uber Technologies Inc.'s Uber Eats. In June, Uber Eats partnered with McDonald's to pilot food deliveries by drone in San Diego.
McDonald's expects deliveries to be a $4 billion business for both the company and its franchise restaurants globally in 2019.
