3i acquires Cellon for integration into single-use bioprocessing platform

3i Group PLC bought Cellon SA, a single-use sterile solutions specialist based in Luxembourg, and will combine it with two other portfolio companies to form a single-use bioprocessing platform.

The private equity firm said it will integrate Cellon with New Jersey-based thermoplastic manufacturer Thermoplastic Biologics LLC, or TBL Performance Plastics, and U.K.-based Silicone Altimex Ltd., a unit of Q Holding Co.

The founding owners of Cellon and TBL will remain key leaders of the platform.
