Asahi to acquire Australian craft beer maker Green Beacon

Asahi Holdings (Australia) Pty. Ltd., a unit of Asahi Group Holdings Ltd., agreed to acquire Brisbane-based craft brewer Green Beacon Brewing Co. for an undisclosed sum.

Green Beacon offers a range of beers including Windjammer IPA, Wayfarer Tropical Pale, 3 Bolt Pale Ale and Half Mast India Session ale.

Under the deal, Asahi will acquire Green Beacon's two Brisbane breweries in Teneriffe and Geebung. The Teneriffe site also includes a brewpub and bar, while Geebung site houses production and distribution facilities.

"Partnering with Asahi to deliver this is truly exciting and provides security and opportunity for our customers, consumers and wider Green Beacon family," said Adrian Slaughter, co-founder and general manager at Green Beacon.

The news comes weeks after Asahi acquired Carlton & United Breweries from Anheuser-Busch InBev SA for A$16 billion.
