Google LLC will pay €965 million to settle a four-year-long fiscal fraud investigation in France, Reuters reported.
The amount includes a fine of €500 million and additional taxes of €465 million, the Alphabet Inc. unit said in a statement.
The French investigators were investigating whether the U.S. search giant avoided dues to the state by not declaring parts of the company's activities in the country. A lawyer representing Google reportedly said the agreement settles all past disputes.
Google, which has its European headquarters in Dublin, reportedly pays little tax in most European countries because it reports almost all sales in Ireland.
In a statement to Le Figaro newspaper, Budget Minister Gerald Darmanin said France is holding talks with several other companies, and the settlement with Google would set a legal precedent.
