Talen Energy looking to sell mechanical services unit

Talen Energy Corp. is exploring the sale of its Talen Energy Services unit as part of its strategy to divest noncore assets and focus on cash flow generation from its power generation business.

Talen Energy Services comprises 11 mechanical contracting companies, whose offerings include process piping and plant maintenance. The business unit generated about $22 million in EBITDA for fiscal year 2016, according to a March 27 news release.

Talen Energy has tapped Greenhill & Co. LLC and FMI Capital Advisors Inc. to serve as financial advisers for the proposed sale process.
