Capella Education Co. said its normalized net income for the third quarter was 82 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 62 cents per share.
EPS increased 13.1% year over year from 72 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $9.6 million, a gain of 9.0% from $8.8 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 9.1% from 8.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 5.8% on an annual basis to $105.9 million from $100.1 million, and total operating expenses rose 5.3% on an annual basis to $90.6 million from $86.0 million.
Reported net income grew 8.4% from the prior-year period to $9.5 million, or 81 cents per share, from $8.8 million, or 72 cents per share.
