North Dakota increases oil, gas production in August

Daily production of oil and gas in North Dakota increased month over month in August, with a total of 2,397 wells idle during the month.

Gas producers reported 93.4 Bcf during the month, or about 3.0 Bcf/d, based on preliminary figures released by the North Dakota Industrial Commission. The initial August figure is higher than July's adjusted total of 91.3 Bcf, or around 2.9 Bcf/d.

August's preliminary figures for oil production totaled 45.8 million barrels, or about 1.5 million bbl/d. Adjusted oil production in July reached 44.8 million, or around 1.4 million bbl/d.

McKenzie retained the top spot among gas-producing counties for the month with 46.6 Bcf, while Williams County came in second at 17.6 Bcf. McKenzie also dominated oil production with 16.9 million bbl and was followed by Dunn County at 10.6 million bbl.

Of the state's 18,339 wells capable of production in August, 15,942 wells were in use.
