Siemens names COO as deputy CEO, proposes head of energy business

Siemens AG on Sept. 18 announced key executive decisions, including the appointment of managing board member and COO Roland Busch as the company's deputy CEO, effective Oct. 1.

In his new role, Busch will be responsible for the implementation of Siemens' strategic plan dubbed Vision 2020+, the company said. Busch was also named the company's labor director, effective Dec. 1.

Siemens said its supervisory board will decide on a successor to President and CEO Joe Kaeser in the summer of 2020.

The company also proposed the appointment of managing board member Michael Sen as CEO of the energy and electricity business that it plans to list in September 2020.

Sen was also appointed as co-CEO of Siemens' gas and power operating company, effective Oct. 1, alongside Lisa Davis, the current head of the business unit. Davis will hand over responsibilities to Sen until Siemens' annual shareholders' meeting in 2020, after which she will support the company's president and CEO in an advisory capacity until the end of her contract.

Sen is currently responsible for the company's equity investment in Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA.
