Ucore to start rare earth elements output at Alaska plant in 2020

Ucore Rare Metals Inc. will start rare earth elements production at its U.S. strategic metals complex in Alaska from 2020, it said March 5.

The company expects an initial planned throughout of 1,000 tonnes per year of rare earth elements in 2020 to 2021, a ramp-up to 2,500 tonnes per year in 2021 to 2022 and over 5,000 tonnes per year in 2023 to 2024.

The project will be the first component of the nearby Bokan Dotson Ridge rare earth element project's surface complex, Vice President of Project Development Randy McGillivray said.

The company is entering into the second phase of due diligence on the project.
