FIG-focused Freeman adds head of capital placement

Former W.R. Hambrecht + Co. LLC CEO Michael Zampardi has joined Freeman & Co. LLC, a financial institutions-focused investment bank, as a managing director and head of capital placement.

Zampardi joined Freeman in November 2016, the company said in an emailed statement. Zampardi's aim is to help with selling and placing stakes in funds, along with broadening Freeman's financial technology practice by raising equity capital for emerging growth companies.

Zampardi joined WR Hambrecht in 2013, and before that, he was a managing director at Virtu Management. Earlier in his career, Zampardi was a senior managing director at Bear Stearns Cos. LLC. He worked in asset management at Bear Stearns, managing the marketing of investment strategies. He also worked as an institutional sales trader helping manage relationships with money managers.

Founded in 1991, Freeman offers M&A advisory, underwriting, consulting and other services to financial institutions. The company's broker/dealer is Freeman & Co. Securities LLC.
