Australian health insurers HBF, HCF scrap planned A$4B merger

Australian health insurers HBF Health Funds Inc. and The Hospitals Contribution Fund of Australia Ltd have ended their discussions regarding a planned merger of equals.

The combination of the two health insurers would have created a A$4 billion entity with a market share of 18.4%. But the two parties have agreed that it would not be in the best interests of their respective members for the deal to push through.
