Karula fiscal Q2 profit falls YOY

Karula Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 31 was ¥18.21 per share, a decline of 11.2% from ¥20.50 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥109.4 million, a decrease of 11.2% from ¥123.1 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to 5.1% from 5.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose year over year to ¥2.15 billion from ¥2.10 billion, and total operating expenses grew year over year to ¥1.97 billion from ¥1.90 billion.

Reported net income declined 47.8% year over year to ¥60.0 million, or ¥9.99 per share, from ¥115.0 million, or ¥19.14 per share.

As of Oct. 14, US$1 was equivalent to ¥107.05.
