GlidePath Power Solutions LLC has completed the acquisition of a 149-MW portfolio of wind projects in North Texas from Exelon Corp. and plans to enhance their performance through the addition of energy storage resources.
The deal is comprised of eight distributed wind energy projects located north of Amarillo, Texas, that serve the Southwest Power Pool market.
"The high penetration of wind energy in North Texas offers us an excellent opportunity to pair these facilities with the latest battery storage technology," GlidePath Asset Management President David Braun said in a news release Aug. 20. A portfolio company owned by Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners Pty. Ltd., GlidePath specializes in on-site battery storage systems.
The acquisition, which brings GlidePath's overall wind portfolio to more than 445 MW, comes just weeks after GlidePath announced a 10-MW stand-alone battery storage project in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas market, 50 miles south of Houston. GlidePath is developing more than 1,000 MW of battery storage projects in multiple U.S. markets.
