Cherokee fiscal Q2 profit climbs 11.2% YOY

Cherokee Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 2 amounted to 26 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 28 cents per share.

EPS rose 10.6% year over year from 23 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $2.2 million, a gain of 11.2% from $2.0 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 25.0% from 26.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 16.9% year over year to $8.8 million from $7.5 million, and total operating expenses increased 19.2% year over year to $5.1 million from $4.2 million.

Reported net income rose 18.1% year over year to $2.3 million, or 27 cents per share, from $1.9 million, or 23 cents per share.
