Unionized workers at Nexa Resources SA's Cajamarquilla zinc smelter in Peru plan to launch an indefinite strike, beginning March 5, seeking a larger share of profits and improved working conditions, Metal Bulletin reported March 2.
The company confirmed it was notified of the strike action by the Sitrazinc union but added that it was continuing talks with the workers.
According to a separate same-day report by Stockhouse, the company is implementing preventive measures to mitigate any potential impact on production at the site.
