Comcast Corp. and AT&T Inc. both announced special bonuses for their employees after the passage of the tax bill in Congress.

AT&T said Dec. 20 that as soon as President Donald Trump signs the bill into law, the company will pay a special $1,000 bonus to more than 200,000 AT&T U.S. employees, AT&T also plans to invest an additional $1 billion in the U.S. in 2018.

Meanwhile, Comcast said it will give $1,000 bonuses to more than 100,000 eligible frontline and nonexecutive employees as a result of the passage of "tax reform and the FCC's action on broadband."

Comcast President, Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts said the company also expects to spend more than $50 billion over the next five years to improve broadband infrastructure, as well as its television, film and theme park offerings.
