Boa Vista: Consumer credit demand in Brazil rises 3.9% YOY in November

Brazilian consumer credit demand rose 3.9% in November from the year-ago period, according to data from credit research firm Boa Vista SCPC. Credit demand from the consumer segment also ticked 5.1% higher from the prior month on a seasonally adjusted basis.

For the first 11 months of 2017, the indicator declined 0.1% annually. As for the rolling 12-month period through November, the indicator decreased 1.4% year over year, marking a milder pace of decline compared with the 2.7% slowdown for the 12-month period through October.

"With the resumption of economic activity, consumption began a recovery, helping to increase the demand for credit," the credit research firm noted, adding that the indicator is expected to pick up more consistently in the first quarter of 2018 due to improved interest and inflation prospects.
