Japan's core machinery orders, excluding orders for ships and those from electric power companies, increased 10.1% in April following a 3.9% slip in March, data from the country's Cabinet Office showed.
Core machinery orders are projected to increase 7.1% in the April-to-June period, up from the 3.3% rise in the previous quarter.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the total value of machinery orders received by 280 manufacturers in Japan increased by 12.6% in April from the previous month.
