Texas Eastern Transmission LP asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to let it build a natural gas compressor station and other parts of the Cameron Extension project that would provide the Calcasieu Pass LNG export terminal in Louisiana with firm natural gas transportation service.
In a Sept. 26 abbreviated application, the Enbridge Inc. pipeline company said the project is designed to reverse the flow of gas on a portion of its Line 41 mainline in order to supply the Cameron Parish, La., terminal. Texas Eastern asked the commission to approve the project by July 1, 2020, in order to meet a Nov. 1, 2021, in-service date.
Texas Eastern also requested FERC approval of recourse reservation and usage rates, as well as an incremental fuel percentage, related to the project. The pipeline company said it has entered into an agreement for firm transportation service with Venture Global LNG, the developer of the Calcasieu Pass terminal, for 750,000 Dth/d of transportation service for a term of 20 years. With this firm commitment, the pipeline extension project is fully subscribed.
The Cameron Extension project would include a new 30,000-horsepower compressor station in Calcasieu Parish, La.; three new metering and regulating stations at interconnections with the pipeline systems of Trunkline Gas Co. LLC, Momentum Midstream LLC and Venture Global's TransCameron Pipeline LLC; and other equipment to accommodate the reverse flow. (FERC docket CP19-512)
In an August application for another part of the Texas Eastern system, the pipeline company asked for FERC authorization for a project that would help it maintain the current volume of gas transportation while protecting its system from longwall mining by Consol Energy Inc. in Marshall County, W.Va. (FERC docket CP19-501)
