Amazon India revamps grocery service as Prime Now

The Indian unit of Amazon.com Inc. said May 29 that it expanded its app-based grocery service Amazon Now, which has also been rebranded as Prime Now.

The updated service available in Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad will provide two-hour delivery exclusively to Amazon Prime members. This is in addition to same-day and next-day delivery options offered to all customers, with the daily schedule of delivery time slots extended to start at 6 a.m. and end at midnight.

The new Prime Now app also features a wider selection of products ranging from fresh groceries to kitchen appliances, household supplies, electronics accessories, soft furnishings and beauty products.

Fulfillment is carried out by Amazon, which previously opened 15 warehouses to support the former Amazon Now service, as well as local supermarkets and specialty sellers including Big Bazaar and Pescafresh.
