NV Energy Inc.on April 1 lowered electric rates for its customers in northern and southern Nevada,according to April 5 news releases.

The overall monthly electric rates decrease was 4.56% for customersin southern Nevada and 3.58% for customers in northern Nevada. Natural gas customersin northern Nevada would also see an 11.15% overall gas discount in their monthlybills.

The southern Nevada utility is known legally as and the northern Nevadautility is known legally as SierraPacific Power Co. Both operate under the NV Energy brand name.

Fuel used in power production and the company's generating stationscaused the rate adjustments.

The Berkshire HathawayEnergy subsidiary implemented earlier electric and rate decreases forits Nevada customers in January.
