British retailer Debenhams PLC plans to lay off 320 store managers across the U.K., The Guardian reported Feb. 8, citing a company release.
The job cuts are part of the £10 million cost-cutting plan the company announced in January after it reported weak sales for the holiday season.
Debenhams said the store managers in question do not deal directly with customers, and the company wants to focus more on floor staff to improve service.
Debenhams is also considering shutting eight more stores as part of CEO Sergio Boucher's recovery plan, the report added.
