Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. said May 30 that it will open an advanced technology center in Yokohama City, Japan.
The motorcycle manufacturer said the facility will house its developments in robotics, artificial intelligence and information technology. It plans to hire advanced specialists in each of these fields to foster the development of its robotics division, as well as technologies in artificial intelligence and information technology like data science and digital marketing.
The Yamaha Motor Advanced Technology Center will also be open for collaboration with companies, universities and research institutions that are involved in advanced technology fields.
Yamaha's robotics portfolio includes surface mounters, industrial robots, unmanned drones, and cell picking and imaging system for medical research.
The facility is expected to create 15 jobs within the year and up to 50 jobs by 2021.
