US homebuilder short interest rises in 1st half of March

U.S. homebuilders saw average short interest grow 12 basis points between Feb. 28 and March 15, reaching 6.90% of outstanding shares.

LGI Homes Inc. posted the largest decrease in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered homebuilders between Feb. 28 and March 15.

The company saw short interest decline 220 basis points to 24.84% of shares outstanding at the end of the period. The company also topped the list of most shorted homebuilders during the period.

Lennar Corp. saw the biggest jump in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered homebuilders between Feb. 28 and March 15. The company saw short interest rise 143 basis points to 5.30% of shares outstanding at the end of the period.
