Gateway Mining Ltd. said Oct. 3 that it outlined a maiden inferred resource estimate for the Whistler and Montague gold deposits, part of the Gidgee project in Western Australia, of 240,000 ounces of gold contained in 3.43 million tonnes grading 2.2 g/t gold.
At a cut-off grade of 0.5 g/t gold for open pit resources and 2 g/t gold for underground resources, the Whistler deposit hosts 120,000 ounces of gold contained in 1.70 Mt grading 2.23 g/t gold, with the Montague deposit containing 120,000 ounces of gold in 1.73 Mt grading 2.18 g/t gold.
The Whistler resource has an immediate strong potential to extend the mineralization along strike to the north and south, down plunge and in a series of separate flat lying structures recently discovered, while the Montague resource demonstrated potential for multiple parallel structures at depth, as well as expansion of the granite stockwork mineralization. Resources at both deposits remain open in all directions.
Following the outlining of a maiden resource estimate at Gidgee, Gateway started an approximately 16,000-meter reverse circulation and aircore drilling program, which aims to outline a resource estimate for the Achilles deposit.
