PE firm BGH Capital backs new Australian cybersecurity firm

Australia-based private equity firm BGH Capital backed the formation of CyberCX, a company established through consolidating 12 cybersecurity firms, DealStreetAsia reported.

The brands acquired were Alcorn, Assurance, Asterisk, CQR, Diamond, Enosys, Klein&Co., Phriendly Phishing, Sense of Security, Shearwater, TSS and YellIT. Future acquisitions are already in the pipeline, the report said.

John Paitaridis, former managing director of Singtel Optus Pty. Ltd., which does business as Optus Business, will lead the new company. Paitaridis recently joined BGH as the CEO of its IT portfolio.

Alastair MacGibbon, former national cybersecurity adviser, will serve as chief strategy officer of CyberCX.

CyberCX has over 400 cybersecurity professionals in more than 20 offices across Australia. The company will provide a full range of consulting and advisory, risk and compliance, and managed security services, among other cybersecurity services.
