Opus Bank names unit president; AllianceBernstein equities co-head to step down

Stroudsburg, Pa.-based ESSA Bancorp Inc. director Timothy Fallon resigned from the company's board and from the board of its unit, ESSA Bank & Trust, effective Sept. 28.

Irvine, Calif.-based Opus Bank appointed Richard Immesberger president of its unit, PENSCO Trust Co.. He succeeds Curtis Glovier, who resigned in August.

Immesberger most recently was national head of trust and estate services for BMO Harris Bank NA, and as chairman and CEO of BMO Delaware Trust Co. from 2016 until September 2019.

Columbus, Ga.-based Synovus Financial Corp. unit Synovus Bank named Tyrone Fenderson Jr. market president for Mobile–Baldwin County, Ala.

Fenderson joins from BBVA Compass Bank, where he was senior vice president for corporate banking for Mobile–Baldwin County since 2016.

Los Angeles-based City National Bank appointed Michael Speaker executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He succeeds Jared Wolff, who left the bank earlier in the year.

Before his appointment at City National, Speaker was deputy general counsel at Fifth Third Bancorp.

Royal Bank of Canada is the parent company of City National Bank.

Financial Services

Apollo Investment Corp. Chief Compliance Officer Cindy Michel will resign.

Michel will continue in her position for a period of time to transition her responsibilities to other members of the company's compliance department.

Apollo Investment initiated a search for her successor.

Jack Henry & Associates Inc. Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Mark Forbis is set to retire Nov. 15.

Upon his retirement, Vice President Ted Bilke will become the chief technology officer.

AllianceBernstein Co-Head of Equities Sharon Fay will step down from her position in 2020 and will move into a different role, Pensions&Investments reported, citing a company spokeswoman.

Equities Co-Head Christopher Hogbin will become the sole leader of the group, according to the news outlet.
