Codelco partially suspends El Teniente operations after worker death

Codelco partially halted work at its El Teniente copper mine in northern Chile following the death of a worker, Reuters reported June 3.

Operator Pedro Mena died after getting hit by a rock while working in the mine's Pilar Norte sector.

An investigation is underway, the newswire said, citing the company.

According to a late-March report, Codelco is planning to increase production at El Teniente to over 500,000 tonnes per year by 2025.
